Will my new car parts from the autobody shop match my paint job?

If anyone understands how important your car’s paint job is to you, it’s us.  We’re fanatics about paint at Bel Air Autobody and Ward Automotive!

When you bought your car, did you make it your mission to find one in the exact shade of color you wanted?  The color you choose can speak volumes about who you are and what you’d like your driving experience to be.

If you’ve been in an accident and are now having car parts replaced at the autobody shop, you’re going to want those new car parts to match perfectly.  Let me explain a little about replacement car parts.

Replacement car parts do not arrive from the manufacturer already painted.
Car part manufacturers intend to have autobody shops paint the car parts they produce.  The reason for this is that it’s simply more cost-effective for the manufacturer to mass produce parts, instead of developing small quantities of individual parts to suit every color in the spectrum.

You, the customer, actually have a big advantage with this system.  Because parts don’t already come painted, this gives us the flexibility to find the perfect parts for your vehicle.  We can select OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), LKQ (Like Kind and Quality), or A/M (aftermarket) parts, depending on what works best for you and your insurance coverage.  Not sure what these different types of parts are?  Check out our guide.

At Bel Air Autobody we can match your car’s unique shade of paint.
Color-matching can be tricky not only because there are many, many shades of colors out there, but also because a car’s paint changes over time and with exposure to the elements.  Your car might still look beautiful, but the paint has possibly aged since you bought it.  Rather than giving you a new car part that matches how your car looked when it was first painted, we will make the new part match your car as it is now.

Now that you have fresh paint, take good care of it!
After having your car painted, the last thing you want to have happen is anything that might wreck its beauty.  It’s going to take some effort, but there are some important steps you should take to preserve your car’s paint:

  • Be smart about where you park.  Park in a garage or under a carport if you can.  Staying out of the elements is the best way you can preserve your paint.  Dirt, debris, and sun damage can quickly erode your lovely exterior.

  • Wash your car often.  When you wash your car, you get rid of all that grime eating away your paint.  Just make sure you use a non-abrasive sponge when you clean your car and dry as thoroughly as you can.  Water spots are bad for paint, just like the dirt you cleaned off.

  • Wax your car.  Waxing your car is the perfect way to shield your paint from the elements.  Try not to skip this important step!
